Vitamin D

It's been awhile since the sun has shared some vitamin d. I really don't remember the last full day of sunshine!  

For reasons unknown, the lights and heat at the hanger went dark this afternoon so I figured I'd take the opportunity to go out and absorb some sunshine. The weather forecast for the next 5 or 6 days is calling for a warm air mass from the Pacific to come north with lots of rain and snow. I'm ok with the snow, but the rain.. I think a couple inches of it is forecast for tomorrow alone!   

We're gaining daylight by 4 minutes a day now. Sunrise is a little before 10 am and sunset around 4:30 pm.. I like this time after Winter Solstice, the days getting longer are a good thing. 

Thoughts

I started this blog years ago as a way to keep friends and family up to date with my kayaking adventures. I guess I haven't been kayaking much in the last couple years, mostly because I've been living and working in Alaska for the last couple years and there just doesn't seem to be a community of kayakers here. The stand up paddle board seems to be the way people here are getting out on the water. I'm just not ready to make the investment in more sporting equipment yet. So to keep this blog alive and up to date I will have to change some direction with what I have to write about. Maybe a name change for the blog is in order too. 

Some thoughts and musings about life north of 59 degrees will have to be my chain of thought here for the time being. I hope I can keep things interesting and worth reading. 

At any rate.. I'd like to wish all good things and good health for the new year.

If I can get this new blogger ap working with pictures I'll make a new effort to start posting here again. I've been using Facebook because it's easy to use, but I'd rather post my thoughts here.

Beach Walking

Was around 25F during a walk on the beach the other day.  Barefoot tracks to the water!  Spring is here .. a little snow today but things are warming up.  Getting the planes ready for another summer of bears and some kayaking in Alaska.  Lots going on ...
