A friend was out on a local flight yesterday, I handed him my camera and asked him to take a couple pictures of some local lakes for an ice check. The third and fourth are of Medicine Lake, bottom is of Bush Lake out near Bloomington. Bush is a great lake for an afternoon of rolling practice ... sandy bottom, and real clean water. All of the smaller lakes are froze over, the larger ones, like Medicine are close behind. Winter storm is forecast for the weekend so, time to get the skis waxed and ready.
It's not like Alaska isn't wilderness - it mostly is. But most Alaskans don't live in the wild. They live on the edge of the wild in towns with schools and cable TV and stores and dentists and roller rinks sometimes. It's just like anyplace else, only with mountains and moose. Tom Bodett

Ron, those pictures look really neat. Seeing the ice on the water and hearing about the potential of the in coming snow storm I can't wait. I beat you have the plow on your truck already.
The plow is on, gas in the truck, I'll be plowing snow into the wee hours Saturday night. I hope we have a good year for skiing, last year it was hard to find snow!
As I was driving to work yesterday morning the park service truck was loading up the groomer at Gross golf course. Track set and looking really good!
I'll be plowing snow again tonight, but should be on the trails soon!
