Minnetonka and Lake Calhoun

Was a beautiful day in the cities yesterday, blue skies, lots of fresh white snow. Some more pictures of a couple local lakes. More snow in the forecast for today and Saturday.

I sure hope you have a good heater in that plane.

Little airplanes usually don't have very good heaters. I used to own a 1947 Luscombe, If I flew when it was snowing, I would see snowflakes floating around the cabin. Never did figure out how they got in there.

When I was in F-105's in SE Asia it would snow in the cockpit when we dove down. The cold air mixed with the warmer air below to form snow. The skin of the airplane would blur and disappear at the same time.

I've seen that happen on military jets doing maneuvers at airshows. It appears as though a small cloud forms at the trailing edges of wingtips and stabilators. Fun stuff to watch!
