QCC 700

A friend had me take delivery of a new QCC 700 yesterday, I'll be storing for him for a few weeks until he returns from Canada. While in my possession I am told to "take it to the lake and try it out". I've only paddled a QCC 500 just a little bit this summer, mostly during some rolling practice. I found it a tough boat to roll. The 700 looks like it might roll a little easier, being somewhat narrower, and more of a round hull shape. John is a marathon canoe racer for many years, and is now getting into kayaking, I can see the same hull shape in his new 700, as I do in his racing canoe's. I'll try and spend some time with it this weekend on Lake Waconia.

Hey Dan ... A couple of lakes to recommend. White Bear Lake, and Waconia are some of my favorites. Especially this time of year, because the pleasure boaters are pretty much done. You'll see mostly sailboaters, and some die hard fisherman. In the cities, the chain of lakes, starting with either Cedar Lake, or Calhoun are good. I'll probably be on Waconia early in the day on Sunday.
You could also check the ISK messege boards for some local folks doing some paddling this weekend.

Ron, I'm looking to get out on the water on either Saturday or Sunday (or both) so let me know if you want to get together for a paddle or a rolling session. I was initially planning on running whitewater this weekend but I really don't want to drive the 2-3 hours to the river (feeling lazy) so sea kayaks on local lakes sound better to me. Do you know what Ron S is up to?

Not sure what Ron S is up to, haven't talked with him since his Isle Royale trip. I'll send him and email.
I have plans for Saturday but I'd like to get out Sunday, the city lakes would be close by, and a rolling session would be great.

Name the time and the place on Sunday and I'll be there. You can try out my new Nordkapp LV and compare it to the QCC. :) Those two boats are probably the epitome of British style kayaks vs Pacific Northwest style kayaks.
