Boat Packing

Well it all seems to fit, at least here it does. For some reason every time I'm standing on the beach trying to stuff everything in ... it just doesn't go as smoothly. Heck! Just leaving the dutch oven out made lots of room. Make it a minimalist/stay warm weekend

Ugh, I'll be doing the same thing this evening. I'm not sure where all my gear is so it's going to be a treasure hunt. I'll be raiding Target this evening for last minute supplies as well.

Can I possibly share a water filter with you? I only have a water bottle filter and capsules at this time since I dragged my feet on ordering the UV light. I'll help out with pumping and hauling. :)

Oh and as for whitewater, I think you'd fit in my creek boat and I have a spare paddle so as long as you have a helmet, I'd be happy to take you down the Vermillion any time.

I have a water filter, I know Ron S has one also. We should be good there.

I may have to take you up on the whitewater thing. I do have a helmet.

This photo stopped me in my tracks - an almost identical coloured boat to mine (I have red deck lines) and it also has loads of kit spread around, with me wondering if it'll all fit inside.

I have to fit in six weeks of stuff (fortunately we'll get food resupply) and a lot of camera gear. I hope I don't have to go back to my old Quest for space...

Hey Simon, The most I've ever packed a boat for is two weeks. I'd sure like to get the opportunity to try and pack for a six week trip! Fun stuff!!

I'll be interested in the trip report. I'm sure it will be more interesting than mine from down on the Mississippi this weekend. This south wind should help, either blowing ice toward Canada (good) or just clogging up the north channel (bad). Kinda wish I was going....

What, no TV?

Well .. I had to leave the tele so I could bring my parka. Rumers of 10 inches of snow still on the ground?!?

Hope you guys had a good and relatively warm trip. Wonder how you delete comments from jerks like Computadores?

Hey Ron, are you back? Hope everybody had just the experience they hoped for!

As of 9am Sunday there were loon pairs on Lakes Harriet & Calhoun, calling & diving at the edges of the ice crust. Should be very interesting at the boat demo on Thursday....

Hi Kate,
Back in town yesterday afternoon. It was a cold and rainy weekend on the lake. I was going get a post together today, but Mondays get pretty hectic at work this time of year ... especially when you take Friday off!
I did enjoy the weekend though, in spite of the rain.
