It's not like Alaska isn't wilderness - it mostly is. But most Alaskans don't live in the wild. They live on the edge of the wild in towns with schools and cable TV and stores and dentists and roller rinks sometimes. It's just like anyplace else, only with mountains and moose.

Cool Airplanes
The Nanchang CJ-6 was a military basic and advanced trainer for the Peoples Liberation Army Air Force in China. Many of these were imported a few years ago, this one's owned by a local flyer here at MIC.
They were building these in the 60's and 70's. The US had also gone to the trike gear by then too. The ground handling on the CJ-6 was probably tougher than the old tail draggers anyway ... steering on the ground is done with differential braking on the rudder control, with the brake lever on the control stick, the nose wheel turns freely. Very odd!

Leave it to the Chinese to have a trainer with trike landing gear!
