Cool Airplanes

The Nanchang CJ-6 was a military basic and advanced trainer for the Peoples Liberation Army Air Force in China. Many of these were imported a few years ago, this one's owned by a local flyer here at MIC.

Leave it to the Chinese to have a trainer with trike landing gear!

They were building these in the 60's and 70's. The US had also gone to the trike gear by then too. The ground handling on the CJ-6 was probably tougher than the old tail draggers anyway ... steering on the ground is done with differential braking on the rudder control, with the brake lever on the control stick, the nose wheel turns freely. Very odd!
